xMarks is interesting and still alive.

the bit.ly preview add-on is very nice too, just because I like knowing where I'm clicking. I think it works for shortening URLs too.

I find myself intrigued by that Aging Tabs!

The compiler is of course set by whatever JDK is installed on the machine running Maven. The plugins used by maven (including the compiler plugin) are prone to be updated in unexpected ways, but yes, you can lock down their version so this doesn't happen.

Which projects have used it? A lot of them. It might be easier, however, to instead find out which projects are published as maven artifacts. There are several places to look and search -- maven central is one. Basically, all the spring projects, hibernate, apache commons, and much more.

Is there a way to lock a compiler version. Once on a SAP project, the compiler/exec was changed. We never recovered.

Minor update: My xbox is still working, so far, after about 10 hours of use. Many resources say that it is temporary, but I'll take it gladly.

I haven't had much, luck, however, with the second xbox I've been fiddling with. It had a slightly different problem, and I haven't been able to make it happy yet.

Note: While ntlmaps works pretty well for apt and the update manager, it has pretty poor performance for general browsing use. Cntlm was written to address the speed side of things, but I haven't tried it yet. See http://cntlm.sourceforge.net/

The pingback on this article is a bit odd... looks like some kind of automated weblog thing -- it found my article almost the moment I published it.

It appears to be running off this feed, a search on "xbox 360": http://blogsearch.google.co.uk/blogsearch_feeds?hl=en&um=1&scoring=d&q=%22xbox+360%22&ie=utf-8&num=50&output=rss

Gripe: I can't believe I had to register to post a damn comment!

I've always been fascinated by how the non-tech public at large (aka the washed masses) learn about and digest technology news. To that end I am drawn to "mainstream" tech podcasts such as the "NPR: Technology Podcast" and "NYT Tech Talk"

And for something completely different, try "The Ethicist" http://www.nytimes.com/services/xml/rss/nyt/podcasts/cohen.xml

Hey Patrick,
Hopefully that works out for you. I have been kicking around the idea to try and get wireless internet going in parts of Ste Genevieve county. Are there currently any providers other than satellite and dial-up in Bloomsdale?

Its been a long time since we talked.

Thanks for the link. The site discusses the same problem (only one plexus compiler per module) that I mention in "Building alongside Java code". We have an OSGi project with lots of small bundles/modules -- the thought of doubling all those was scary, so we implemented the solution above.

Very good step by step tutorial.

For those interested, I have found out how to easily configure Maven to compile JavaFX classes alongside with Java classes: <a href="http://jfxpictureview.wiki.sourceforge.net/Maven+2" title="How to compile Java and JavaFX classes together using Maven" rel="nofollow">http://jfxpictureview.wiki.sourceforge.net/Maven+2</a>

The only drawback is that Java classes must be separated from the JavaFX classes (which means two separate projects).
